Purchasing Coordinator


Full-time (non-exempt)
Monday-Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM
Estimated Salary: $23 to $29 per hour DOE

Our Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the replenishment of imported home furnishings, the timely flow of overseas and domestic products, and for reporting and analysis. The ability to build solid professional relationships, work in a collaborative team environment, influence and maintain credibility, and ensure confidence and trust to our internal and external customers is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the replenishment and flow of products from Asia and domestic factories to multiple warehouses locations
  • Oversee the transfer and distribution of stocked inventory to support sales volume and ratios
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating information in the forecast/planning system to obtain accurate reporting of optimal purchase quantities
  • Enter and update POs in the system with ETD, ETA dates as needed
  • Update customer care, sales team and management on issues hindering order production and/or shipping
  • Email correspondence including sales department and overseas team
  • Maintain product records in SAP, Salsify, One Drive and other applicable applications
  • Analyze data, forecast requirements to create Purchase Orders for vendors
  • Monitor inventory levels
  • Assist with the improvement of our internal purchasing processes, procedures and systems
  • Work closely with other departments and assist them in the resolution of vendor, end user, shipping, pricing issues, etc
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Extremely responsive and customer service driven whether the “customer” is internal or external
  • Coordinate part orders for stock to be produced with product as needed
  • Assist with preparing for and/or attending market trade shows, special events, as needed
  • Create, submit and track new product sample POs and transfers
  • Correct cost and product dims in system and update when applicable
  • Lead for new item set-up in Salsify and SAP
  • Maintain SOP's for all necessary workflows
  • Regular attendance with high degree of dependability
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of international import production and transportation timelines
  • Knowledge of business and management principles of inventory and resource allocation
  • Computer proficient, including basic to intermediate Excel skills and ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment, present information, and respond to questions from managers, internal and external customers, and the entire Emerald team
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and administrative skills to troubleshoot problems within scope of responsibility
  • Inquisitive nature, not afraid to ask questions, with a general interest in the wholesale furniture industry
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Coachable, willing to take on new assignments, and suggest ways to improve
  • Self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced environment

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Two (2)+ years of experience in purchasing imports, international logistics
