Director of Operations
Based in Tacoma, WA - Frequent travel to remote sites required.
Job Summary:
The Director of Operations will be responsible for leading and coordinating daily operations across multiple warehouse and distribution sites. This role ensures efficient logistics, effective inventory management, and consistent service delivery across all sites. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in operations, supply chain, and people management in a fast-paced wholesale or distribution environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of warehouse, transportation, facilities, quality control, and parts departments across all Emerald Home locations (Tacoma, WA, Mocksville, NC, Indianapolis, IN, and Opelika, AL)
- Continuously evaluate operational workflows and systems to identify and implement process improvements.
- Lead and mentor managers and supervisors, providing performance feedback, coaching, and development opportunities. Develop a succession plan across all operational roles.
- Promote a strong safety culture while overseeing equipment safety and maintenance programs, enforcing safety policies, conducting audits and ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, FMCSA).
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities and maximize revenue.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with other departments and locations to align operational activities with company-wide objectives.
- Conduct regular visits to NC and AL distribution centers and conduct audits to maintain consistency and operational standards.
Education and/or Experience:
- Proven experience (5 years +) in operations management, preferably in furniture, wholesale or distribution industries
- Experience managing multiple sites and cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of supply chain, logistics and inventory control systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goods
- Excellent leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
Technical Skills:
- ERP Software – SAP
- Transportation Management Software – Telogis/Verizon Connect
- Intermediate Skills in Microsoft Office Suite; (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Demonstrating ethics, integrity, and professionalism
