Warehouse Supervisor – Night Shift


Full-time (non-exempt)
Monday-Thursday, 5:00PM – 4:00AM

The Warehouse Supervisor-Night Shift is responsible for providing general supervision to employees in the order fulfillment process. This role will also be responsible for receiving, storing, staging items and the safety and security of the warehouse and its people. The Supervisor will be responsible for completing a variety of warehouse material handler and supervisory functions and tasks with a "safety/quality first" philosophy to ensure the highest possible level of service and product quality, accuracy, and productivity.

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Core Responsibilities:

  • Safety – Ensures that the proper safety equipment is available and that all employees follow safety procedures and use safe handling practices to protect from injury/damage to themselves, other persons, company products or property.
  • Quality – Ensures that quality and performance standards for picking, staging, and loading are consistently met. Monitors inventory cycle count results. Assists with inventory/quality control issues as necessary.
  • Order Fulfillment – Fills orders (customer will-call, common carrier, Emerald truck, E-comm) which includes picking and loading of trucks for delivery per customer expectations. Verify docks and license's used are clear of inventory in separate programs after deliveries are created.
  • Driver Trap – Supervise and assist in greeting, driver’s signing in and load staged product onto carriers ensuring all product is loaded, bills of lading signed, and deliveries created. Verify pick tickets match deliveries. Ensure all product on outbound dock is accounted for.
  • Small Parcel – Supervise and assist in small parcel order processing ensuring customer order shipping KPI’s are met. Product is staged, loaded, bills of lading signed, and deliveries created, and orders closed.
  • Staff Training – Assists the warehouse manager in training and monitoring employees to perform their duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently for the day’s workload and training/process improvement. Assist with MHE training on a regular basis to ensure all employees are certified.
  • People Supervision – Assists the warehouse manager in selecting and developing the warehouse team. Offers employee feedback, participates in corrective action procedures and performance reviews. Understands staffing requirements, aids in the process of hiring new employees, manages employee work schedules, assists warehouse manager in approving and scheduling vacations, maintaining, and updating the timekeeping system for employees.
  • Workflow – Supervises the operational activities of the warehouse: will-call, pre-pulls, small parcel, parts, LTL, picking and loading of orders for Emerald trucks and common carriers, As-Is department (returns, repairs, and as-is trailer loading), and assist in all quality control projects and issues. Assists in organizing the warehouse to support the efficient flow of product.
  • Standard Operating Procedures – Assists in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and trains employees in their use. Verifies and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Audit – Reviews and confirms paperwork completed by employees. Reviews and confirms all small parcel shipments (FedEx and UPS) are processed, picked, labeled, and loaded ready for pick up. Double checks runs and deliveries made for all Emerald trucks and common carriers loaded by the DAY SHIFT crew.
  • General Maintenance and Housekeeping – Ensures employees complete MHE inspection sheets and report all damage to equipment, docks and racking in a timely manner. Responsible for general housekeeping – ensuring a clean and safe warehouse and dock areas.
  • Other duties as assigned - Performs other functions as directed by warehouse manager. Able to work extended hours to meet business needs. Occasional overtime is required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Lead or supervisory experience required
  • 2+ years warehouse/distribution/material handling experience
  • Certified lift truck experience: forklift, order picker, reach truck, etc.
  • Handheld “RF gun” experience.
  • SAP and/or other Warehouse Management System experience.
  • Computer experience including Microsoft Excel.

The employee is frequently required to drive, push, pull, squat, stoop, and reach (overhead and below). The employee is occasionally required to sit, crawl, climb stairs and ladders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment – extreme hot/cold temperatures in the warehouse and freight containers. Noise levels are very high. Regular exposure to: dust, gases and fumes (propane and battery fumes).

Appropriate tools are provided to perform the essential functions of the job: ear plugs, gloves, fall restraint harnesses, apron, eye protection, etc.
